I was on Otezla last December for two months and it was working better than anything else I’d tried. Covid hit and I got nervous my immune system would weaken so I stopped Otezla. Ended up getting Covid anyway in June/July. The stress of last year has caused my psoriasis to flare up worse (I’m scalp only) than ever. I’ve lost half my hair. It’s thin and frail and I’m devastated.

Contemplating going back on Otezla. Thoughts??? (Source : Erice on Facebook)

OTEZLA PSORIASIS REVIEWS from Patients :

Erika Bilyard : My friend started otezla a few months ago and she’s a busy physical therapist (so working with people in closer quarters AND particularly vulnerable populations). It seems like one of the milder biologics, and perhaps a better option right now than some of the others if it works for you. If your psoriasis is really impacting your life and otezla is the only thing that helps (I’m assuming you’ve tried all of the topical and such?), then go for it, taking extra precautions covid-wise (good masks, hand hygiene, no indoor socializing/eating/drinking outside your household, no travel, minimize outings, healthy lifestyle, etc.

Elizabeth Simmons Pfrimmer : I’ve been on otezla for almost 4 years. I had covid over Christmas break — no issues.

However, I will probably stop otezla after my next dermatologist appointment because I don’t think it’s working anymore. I am not covered (like I was before), but I’ve got lots of spots everywhere and they seem to be spreading. I’m trying to be thankful that otezla worked for three years and I was able to enjoy having mostly clear skin. Not sure what to do next because I do not want to use traditional biologics. Ugh.

Nina Saner : The flare was probably not just stress but a rebound reaction to discontinuing the medicine. Consider that whenever you opt for a prescription.
